GFT is seeking a Civil Engineer - Traffic Highway to join our Transportation Team in one of the following office locations : Chicago, IL; Schaumburg, IL; Kansas City, MO; Wichita, KS; Omaha, NE; Denver, CO; St. Louis, MO; Tulsa, OK; or Oklahoma City, OK. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at one of these office locations.

What You Will Do

Work on transportation projects that enhance road infrastructure and community connectivity. The Highway & Traffic Team focuses on safety and design alternatives, corridor reconstruction, interchange and intersection improvements, bridge preservation and replacement projects. You will provide transportation engineering services on highway, bridge, and rail projects nationwide. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 4 years of professional experience and can plan, conduct, and coordinate traffic engineering work, prepare reports, plans and specs, and monitor multiple project schedules and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review design calculations.
• Research design alternatives, code requirements, and present findings.
• Prepare and review reports, contract drawings, cost estimates, and specifications.
• Communicate with the Project Manager on results, workload, and progress.
• Advocate for, lead, and mentor entry level engineers.
• Coordinate meetings with clients, subconsultants, and project stakeholders.
• Engage in business development activities including information gathering, preliminary design, and proposal writing.
• Develop accurate engineering designs and plans that meet budgets, schedules, and standards.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational activities and professional societies.

The salary range for this role is $70,000 - $100,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
