Duties Description The Quality Improvement Registered Nurse 2 (RN2) is an essential role that will support the core mission of the Hudson Valley district and assist with optimizing the delivery of high-quality nursing services and maintaining the health and safety of individuals across Hudson Valley's four counties. The RN2 will maintain expert, current knowledge of nursing policies, processes, standards, laws, rules, and regulations and provide consultation and assistance to the residential teams to properly apply those standards to improve service delivery outcomes.
The RN2 will play a unique and active role in supporting the district as a nursing subject matter expert by providing training, technical assistance, conducting site visits and audits, providing ongoing monitoring of service delivery documentation, and evaluating program needs, processes, effectiveness, trends, and outcomes.
This position will report to the Hudson Valley DDSOO Director of Quality Improvement who will provide direction on tasks, including but not limited to assisting with audits to ensure compliance, functioning as a resource to state operation residential and day program teams, and participating in various committees.
The person will be tasked with completing DQI survey readiness reviews / audits, reviewing exit conferences, and working collaboratively with the state operations teams to develop nursing related POCAs. This position will be a valuable resource for operational and regulatory information dissemination and training to nursing and residential staff, as appropriate, across the 4 counties.

Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Applicants must possess a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; and two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience. One year of this experience must have been providing direct services to individuals diagnosed with mental illness, developmental disabilities, addiction, or substance use disorders in a community setting.
Substitution :
A bachelor's degree in nursing may substitute for one year of general post-licensure clinical nursing experience; and a master's degree in nursing may substitute for two years of general post-licensure clinical nursing experience.

TRAVEL : Percentage of travel may vary (approx. 20%-50%). Must have valid driver's license as well as dependable transportation.

This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title.
At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status.
