About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Claims Manager to oversee property and liability claims across our national real estate portfolio. This role is critical to managing complex claims within large deductible and retention insurance programs, including those involving a captive. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in-house at a mid-sized to large company, third party claims management firm and / or insurance carrier and be comfortable navigating sensitive claims matters with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end claims process for property and liability incidents, including intake, investigation, documentation, and resolution.
  • Coordinate with internal legal counsel, outside attorneys, brokers, carriers, third-party administrators (TPAs), and other stakeholders, as needed.
  • Ensure timely and accurate claims reporting and compliance with policy terms and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and analyze claims trends to identify risk mitigation opportunities.
  • Maintain claims records and prepare regular reports for senior leadership.
  • Support litigation management, including addressing discovery requests, and settlement negotiations, as needed.
  • Collaborate with finance and accounting teams on claims-related reserves and recoveries.
  • Participate in insurance program renewals, acquisitions and divestitures, and provide claims data as well as analysis and insights on material claims trends.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience managing property and liability claims, preferably in-house at a mid-sized to large company, claims management firm, or full-service insurance company.
  • Strong understanding of insurance programs with large deductibles / retentions and captive structures.
  • Strong understanding of litigation process.
  • Proficiency working with claims management platforms and data management technologies.
  • Experience in handling sensitive claims and working with legal teams.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in claims management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; CPCU, ARM, or other relevant certifications a plus.

  • Prior experience as litigation paralegal is helpful but not necessary.
