A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A GRAPHICS & MEDIA DESIGNER

As a Graphics & Media Designer, you spend your day assisting the City departments internally with creative development. Your work typically involves providing professional creative and graphic design services to support the City's departments communications and promotional efforts. Maintaining webpages, assisting in social media marketing, editing projects, and creating promotional materials (printed and digital) generally fill up your day. Your job is essential to the city, and you assist the department staff in the operation of television / film production equipment for events, programs, and projects. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. This can include assisting with set-up, breakdown, hosting, and preparing of directional signage for events.

When you aren't out in the city, you generally are back at the library assembling raw footage and transfers or uploads to a computer. You also ensure that the promotional materials are organized, stored, edited, and archived. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. The city needs someone like you with skills in customer service, computers, and you find genuine enjoyment in what you do!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A GRAPHICS & MEDIA DESIGNER

• Required Education : Associate's degree in graphic arts, design, communications, or related field
• Education Preference : Bachelor's Degree in related field.
• Educational Substitute : Additional education and experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the above requirements.
• Required Work Experience : Three (3) years of experience in graphics design
• Experience Preference : Five (5) years' experience in related field.
• Must have strong knowledge of copyright and creative common laws
• Must be bilingual in English and Spanish
• Must have a current and valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety
