Position : Senior Mechanical Engineer (Level IV)

Department : Medical & Clean Manufacturing (MCM)

Reporting Relationship : Director, MCM

Overview

The Senior Mechanical Engineer (Level IV) plays a key role in the successful execution of projects for the Medical & Clean Manufacturing Group. This individual provides technical and engineering excellence and ensures successful delivery of work to customers. The Senior Mechanical Engineer maintains a high level of customer satisfaction by clearly communicating and managing expectations—externally and internally. The successful candidate will contribute to a dynamic team environment by being proactive, communicating clearly to all stakeholders, and modeling a highly collaborative working environment. This person will also actively support the business development process, through the writing of proposals and meeting with prospective and current customers.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares engineering documents and equipment specifications to meet contracted scope of work and to ensure application of thermodynamic principles (e.g., HVAC engineering and design, load / energy modeling calculations).
  • Basic understanding of architectural, electrical, civil and structural engineering construction practices.
  • LEED – experience in the design and certification of LEED buildings.
  • Develops estimates for assigned scope of work, and is accountable for ensuring we stay within scope.
  • May serve as project manager for complete projects, when assigned.
  • Supports the business development process through input to proposals, meetings, and presentations to prospective customers.
  • Provides work direction to other team members, including subcontractors, as assigned.
  • Approves final equipment selections and drawing submittals.
  • Provides technical and engineering support to other departments / disciplines.

Qualifications

Required :

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without the need for work sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Minimum of 10 years of mechanical engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineering Registration or willingness to pursue this designation.
  • Proficient in LEED design.
  • Knowledge in both Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Naturally collaborative and able to assimilate a range of ideas, programs or alternatives into a set of recommendations.
  • Strong influencing skills and maturity to work with colleagues and customers.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills for interaction with Designers, Engineers, and Project Managers.
  • Supervisory or people-management experience.
  • Effective meeting management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish rapport and credibility with customers and other stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of computer technology and applications, including MS Office.
  • Travel : Up to 25% domestic travel.
  • Preferred :

  • Experience in healthcare, government, or education market segments
  • Experience in infrastructure design for healthcare facilities
  • Working Conditions

  • Some work locations will feature the rough terrain typical of construction sites or require lifting or moving field testing equipment.
