Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Linthicum, MD is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Systems Engineer to join our Payload Systems Engineering Team supporting Concept of Operation (CONOPS) development . As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to support efforts on both concept and product development to deliver key solutions to our customers. We cover a wide variety of expertise within the systems engineering domain. This includes mission engineering, requirements, architecture, modeling and simulation, integration and test, and verification and validation.

Primary Responsibilities

As a member of the CONOPS team, you will support the development of a CONOPS document that describes a proposed system concept and how that concept would be operated in an intended environment. This role may include, but is not limited to, the following tasks :

Support activities to Identify key customers and stakeholders

Develop and document operational scenarios

Develop and document user needs

Define / refine project goals and objectives

Develop and document concept of operations

Develop validation plan

This position can be staffed at a Principal or Sr. Principal level , based on the basic qualifications below. In addition, this position will be in Linthicum, MD.

These are the basic qualifications you must have to be considered :

Principal Engineer : Bachelor's degree in STEM curriculum with 5 years relevant experience; 3 years with MS Degree; or PhD with 1 year of experience.

Sr Principal Engineer : Bachelor's degree in STEM curriculum with 8 years relevant experience; 6 years with MS Degree; or PhD with 4 years of experience.

Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secre t security clearance a time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI approval / access.

Systems engineering experience (i.e. requirements, mission engineering, architecture, modeling and simulation, integration and test, verification and validation)

Mission Planning or CONOP development experience

Space experience

Sensor / payload experience

Active TS / SCI

Primary Level Salary Range : $105,400.00 - $158,000.00

Secondary Level Salary Range : $131,000.00 - $196,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and / or personal business.
