Account Credit Specialist

Brentwood, TN | 100% On-Site

up to $21.00 / hour | Monday-Friday, Full-Time (40 hours)

Choose your shift : 7 : 00 - 3 : 30 or 8 : 00 - 4 : 30

Key Responsibilities - Account Credit Specialist :

  • Investigate and resolve patient account credit balances, ensuring timely and accurate follow-up in compliance with behavioral health billing practices.
  • Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) to identify overpayments, misapplied credits, and initiate appeals within payer-specific deadlines.
  • Communicate with insurance payers via phone and online portals to reconcile outstanding credits and ensure proper reimbursement.
  • Analyze and report trends in payer behavior, coding discrepancies, and reimbursement rates to revenue cycle leadership for strategic improvements.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of credit activity and regularly monitor aging reports to ensure resolution of outstanding balances.
  • Apply co-insurance, deductible, and contractual adjustments in accordance with payer guidelines and behavioral health billing standards.

Qualifications - Account Credit Specialist :

  • 1-2 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations, preferably within behavioral health or mental health services.
  • Strong working knowledge of payer reimbursement policies, including Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance regulations.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in interpreting EOBs, working within EMR and billing systems, and using Excel for tracking and reporting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative approach to working with billing, clinical, and administrative teams.
