Homer Township Supervisors Are Accepting Applications For The Position Of Part Time Township Treasurer
Primary Function : The Treasurer is responsible for managing Township funds, including the collection of revenues, disbursement of payments for municipal expenses, and the maintenance of accurate financial records. This position prepares timely financial reports for the Board of Supervisors and oversees banking activities, investment of Township funds, and the annual budget process. Through precise documentation and sound financial management, the Treasurer ensures the effective operation of Township government.
Key Responsibilities :
- Attend all Board of Supervisors' meetings either in person or by telephone when necessary as well as other designated meetings.
- Act as the primary point of contact for FEMA and PEMA agencies.
- Ensure that Township business is conducted and recorded properly.
- Receive and deposit all funds due to the Township into an approved interest-bearing account.
- Maintain precise and comprehensive records of all financial and administrative transactions.
- File all materials related to this position promptly and in an organized manner.
Payments, Disbursements, and Financial Recordkeeping :
Process township invoices and obligations, preparing checks for payment to be signed by the Board of Supervisors.Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of all financial transactions, including income, receipts, and expenditures, to support annual township and state audits.File all financial documents and related materials promptly and in proper order.Prepare and present a monthly Treasurer's Report to the Board of Supervisors, providing a clear overview of township finances.Financial and Administrative Responsibilities :
Budgeting Develop and prepare the annual Township budget for review and approval by the Board of Supervisors.Payroll Maintain accurate payroll records, process payroll for Township employees, and ensure timely submission of payroll taxes to the appropriate agencies.Reporting Complete and file the Annual MS965 Form no later than January 31 each year.Compliance :
Ensure the accurate completion and timely filing of all required State and Federal financial forms and reports.Assist with the collection of fees related to road bonds, permits, and other applicable charges.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
