American Traveler is seeking a Neuro ICU RN with at least two years of experience and a MO or compact RN license for night shifts in a Level I Trauma teaching hospital.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the Neuro ICU unit of a Magnet-designated and teaching hospitalPatient population includes ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, neuromuscular disorders, seizure disorders, CNS infections, neurotrauma, and cases requiring ICP monitoringTypical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 2Shift schedule is 3x12 hour night shifts (19 : 00-07 : 30), every other weekend requiredFloating within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed, within service lineUse of EPIC charting system; EPIC experience requiredUtilizes specialized equipment such as EVDs and bolts for ICP monitoring; care includes central / arterial line management and vasoactive medication administrationDuties include advanced neurocritical care management, management of central and arterial lines, and monitoring of patients with neurological injuriesSpecialized procedures include CRRT, hypothermia / hyperthermia management, and spinal precautionsTen hours of stroke education must be completed during orientation (NIHSS can fulfill part of this requirement)First-time travelers are accepted for this positionTravelers may remain on assignment for up to 18 months and must take a 3-month break after 18 months of continuous workNo more than 7 days of requested time off allowed per 13-week contract, and no time off is allowed during the first week of orientationNavy blue scrubs are requiredHoliday coverage may be required as per department needsParking policies and costs vary based on shift and parking location; details provided during orientationAll candidates must have a valid SSN and DOB at the time of consideration\n \n Requirements\n
