As a Senior Reinsurance System Specialist, you will serve as a subject matter expert for the reinsurance system and perform technical responsibilities independently and as part of a team within the Reinsurance and Actuarial Departments. You will also collaborate closely with both the system software vendor and internal stakeholders to ensure the accurate and timely administration of reinsurance treaties.

Description of Duties & Responsibilities of a Senior Reinsurance System Specialist :
- Responsibilities for the continual development, testing and implementation oversight of the insurance system that aligns with Company products, goals and philosophies. Implement and maintain process improvement to the reinsurance system.
- Analyze, quote and accurately interpret legal treaty requirements to create and / or revise system treaties including the mapping of insurance plans and the setup of products in the administration system to ensure accurate processing.
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans using SQL or similar tools in parallel with client’ files. Identify and document all necessary test scenarios with details of expected results and test the accuracy of the system treaties.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the reinsurance system’s capabilities and clearly document and communicate product features within the administration system, ensuring that users at all levels of the Company can easily comprehend and utilize them.
- Promptly address internal client questions / issues related to system treaty requirements, adhering to any established time service requirements.
- Implement and monitor quality controls to ensure standards are met. Conduct quality control audits and communicate results to management.
- Establish and / or confirm IT requirements for new and existing file automation processes. Review and approve technical procedure documentation provided by reinsurance system vendor(s) for the creation and maintenance of automated processing.
- Research, analyze and independently resolve complex issues in relation to automated processing. Interface with reinsurance team, officers, department heads, and management as necessary to facilitation resolution.
- Receive, evaluate and complete data requests from internal clients. Verify results and communicate data requirements to management.
- Identify, develop, and deliver training presentations internally and externally that align with Company needs, goals and philosophies and related to job duties and responsibilities.
- Ensure that the reinsurance system adheres to industry regulations and compliance standards.
- Maintain a current level of knowledge of best practices, legal updates and compliance, act as a subject matter expert related to reinsurance.
- Work closely with business users, underwriters, actuaries, and IT teams to gather and document business requirements for new or enhanced system functionalities.
- Work closely with both the Reinsurance Department and the Actuarial Department to improve system infrastructure.
Required Skills & experience of a Senior Reinsurance System Specialist :
7+ years of life insurance experience is required.Experience with reinsurance platforms required. Quasar / R2 experience is preferred.Business analysis and system testing skills are required.Technical understanding of life insurance administration systems preferred.Working knowledge of SQL, VBA, Access and Power BI is preferred.Associate, Life Management Institute (ALMI) designation preferred.Associate, Reinsurance Administration (ARA) designation preferred.Advanced proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite required.Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.Strong organizational skills.Strong team player who can work effectively with IT, business, and external vendors.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.Ability to take care of both internal and external customer needs.Ability to pay close attention to detail.Ability to prioritize and organize a heavy workload.Ability to work a regular schedule required. Must be able to work outside normal business hours to meet project deadlines.Education Required : Bachelors degree in a related field of study is preferred.
Pay Range : $86,500.00 to $119,000 annually
The starting pay rate for this role is based on a variety of relevant factors, including location, education, experience, and skills.
The level of this position will be determined based on factors including relevant skills, experience and other qualifications.
