Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Must-Have :

• General Med / Tele skill set
• Stroke experience / NIH assessments
• Chest tube management
• Peripheral IV starts
• Tracheostomy care
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation
• NGT placement
• Drain / tube management
• Foley catheter insertion / management
• Patient-controlled analgesia pump management
• Medication drip management including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, intravenous fluids

Description :

The Registered Nurse will provide care in a Medical-Surgical / Telemetry setting.

The unit has 27 beds with an average patient census of 20.

Patient types commonly encountered include stroke, COPD, chest pain, altered mental status, and GI bleed.

Patient ratios are typically 1 : 5-6, depending on acuity, with possible surge staffing increasing ratios up to 1 : 7-8.

Nursing Assistants support the unit and can perform certain tasks when certified.

Phlebotomy services are available 24 / 7.

Telemetry monitoring and tech support are also available around the clock.

The facility uses Epic as the electronic medical record system.

IV pumps are managed with Alaris, and medication dispensing is through Omnicell.

Staff may be required to float within the region and scope of practice based on patient needs.

Weekend rotation is every other weekend, and holiday work expectations require travelers to be available for 75% of holidays.

Requests for time off can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays, but must be added to the end of the contract if contracted hours are not met.
