PART I - General Job / Performance Information
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED. Graduate of a Nurse Aid Training Program is preferred. Completion of University Medical Center Patient Care Training and provided by UMC or a profe nursing student, who has completed one semester of clinical experience. Requires validation from school to assure training level (form provided).
Environmental / Working Conditions
Works inside. Hours of duty may be irregular with covering various shifts. Exposure to blood born pathogens is of high risk.
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This position requires close interaction with other ancillary departments in order to facilitate a quality multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
Job Description
The Patient Care Assistant will perform tasks which involve specified services for patients delegated by a Licensed Nurse.
Required Licensures / Certifications / Registrations
None.
Physical Capabilities
Work is of medium demand. Standing, walking most of the time on duty. Lifting and pushing patients, carts and wheelchairs. Good tactile sensations necessary for checking patients. Talking and hearing to converse with patients staff members. Near visual acuity for reading of gauges and thermometers and for recording on patients' charts.
Skills and Abilities
Age specific knowledge is required when needed for appropriate patient care.
