About This Opportunity

Schedule / Hours vary M-S 9 : 00 a.m.- 4 : 00 p.m. (29 hours per week)

This position is responsible for driving The Salvation Army truck along scheduled route to pick-up donations from customers; operating the truck in compliance with established Salvation Army standards and state driving regulations; lifting, carrying, loading and unloading a variety of donations including furniture, appliances, clothing, etc.; ensures the safety, security, and accountability of the vehicle and donations at all times; assists in performing work in the family store and warehouse.

Key Responsibilities

• Lifts, carries, and / or hauls donations into truck; packs items in truck in a manner that maximizes use of space, protects items from damage, and ensures safety (this applies to donators' property as well so that door facings, etc. and outside areas (including trees) are not damaged.
• Unloads donations from truck upon arrival at warehouse; distributes items to appropriate locations in the warehouse.
• Prepares donation receipts for customers; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same while maintaining good relationship with donors to promote a favorable image of The Salvation Army.
• Drives to the dump and metal recycling center to dispose of non-useable donations.
• Operates a fork lift and trains / certifies others in the same.
• Assists in working in all areas of the Family Store operations as needed.
