Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

Location : Plattsburgh, NY 12901 (New York healthcare jobs)

Unit : Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Cardiac Stepdown

Assignment Length : 16 weeks (option to extend up to 32 weeks)

Start Date : December 15, 2025

Shift : 12-hour day shifts (7a–7p)

Hours per Week : 36

Employment Type : Travel Registered Nurse

Weekend / Holiday : Every other weekend; must work 2 of 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)

Floating : Required to float to appropriate units as part of the Resource Float team

Estimated Weekly Pay : $2100–$2250

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active New York RN license (or proof of application with applied date)

Minimum 1 year of recent clinical experience in telemetry, progressive care, or cardiac stepdown nursing

At least 1 year of specialty experience in Cardiac Stepdown / PCU

Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required

NIHSS certification (must be obtained prior to start date)

Recent EPIC EMR documentation experience (within the last 2 years)

Proficiency with insulin drips, cardiac drips, IV starts, and post-cardiac catheterization care

Reliable personal or rental vehicle required (no public transportation available)

Ability to work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays as scheduled

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult patients with acute cardiac and progressive care needs

Monitor and manage patients with acute coronary syndrome, heart failure, post-PTCA / stent, and other cardiac conditions

Administer and titrate cardiac and insulin drips, perform EKGs, start IVs, and provide post-cardiac catheterization care

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including respiratory and anesthesia support (available 24 / 7)

Document patient care using EPIC EMR and adhere to all unit protocols and procedures

Float to appropriate units as needed and adapt to changing patient care needs

Maintain professional appearance and comply with dress code (navy blue or white scrubs, closed-toe nonskid shoes)

Participate in orientation (1–2 days) and ongoing nursing education as required
