2nd Shift Laser Operator

Specific responsibilities include :

• Determine the sequence of machine operations and select the proper cutting tools needed to machine workpieces into the desired shapes.
• Revise programs to eliminate errors and retest programs to check that problems have been solved.
• Analyze job orders drawings blueprints specifications and design data in order to calculate dimensions tool selection machine speeds and feed rates.
• Determine reference points machine cutting paths or hole locations and compute angular and linear dimensions radii and curvatures.
• Observe machines on trial runs or conduct computer simulations to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly and produce items that meet specifications.
• Compare computer printouts with original part specifications and blueprints to verify accuracy of instructions.
• Enter coordinates of hole locations into program memories.
• Write programs in the language of a machines controller and store programs for future use.
• Modify existing programs to enhance efficiency.
• Enter computer commands to store or retrieve parts patterns graphic displays or programs that transfer data to other media.
• Inspect test or measure materials products and work for conformance to specifications.
• Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as rulers calipers gauges or micrometers.
• Read blueprints data manuals or other materials to determine specifications inspection and testing procedures adjustment methods certification processes formulas or measuring instruments required.
• Sign off or reject fabricated parts and keep track of results to determine corrective measures.
• Mark items with details such as grade or acceptance-rejection status.
• Notify General Manager of production problems.
• Discard or reject products materials or equipment not meeting specifications.
• Write test or inspection reports describing results recommendations or needed repairs.
• Compare colors shapes textures or grades of products or materials with color charts templates or samples to verify conformance to standards.
• Other duties as needed to meet Production requirements.

Supervisory Responsibility - this position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment this job operates in a shop environment where exposure to heat is frequent.

Travel This position does not have travel requirements.
