This Manager position is part of the Regulatory Exam Lifecycle Management (RELM or 'the Team') in Global Risk and Compliance ('GRC'), and reports to the Director of Regulatory Risk Management. RELM supports the end-to-end lifecycle of regulatory exams, ongoing supervision, and remediation of regulatory findings responsibilities that are central to the safety and soundness of American Express. Within RELM, the Regulatory Risk Management (RRM) team supports governance, reporting, readiness, and risk management processes that underpin the company's regulatory exam framework. RRM focuses on management of RELM's policies and procedures (including AEMP 69), development and oversight of regulatory training and exam-readiness materials, and driving alignment across RELM's reporting and documentation standards.
Responsibilities :
Developing and maintaining RELM's policies, procedures, and training, including the American Express Regulatory Management Policy (AEMP 69) and its corresponding Tier 2 training module.
Maintaining reporting and governance standards, and developing strategic-level reporting tailored for senior leadership and management committees.
Developing and maintaining regulatory and exam-readiness training materials to drive preparedness in alignment with established procedures and standards.
Managing and tracking the RRM workflow for reporting deliverables, driving timeliness, quality, and efficiency in processes and outputs.
Strong collaboration with key cross-functional stakeholders, including Operational Risk Management, U.S. Regulatory Relations, the General Counsel's Organization, Enterprise Program Management, Control Management, Enterprise Risk Management, and Internal Audit to ensure coordination and consistency across shared processes.
Minimum Qualifications :
5 years of prior experience in risk management, regulatory, or related roles.
Highly collaborative and able to build and leverage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong grasp of enterprise priorities and able to understand and communicate linkages across initiatives and disciplines.
Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Solutions-oriented and execution-focused, with appropriate attention to detail.
Exhibits strong sense of urgency, including the ability to handle multiple and concurrent priorities within a fast-paced environment.
Strategic and tactical leadership skills, as well as sound judgment and decision making.
Project management experience, including cross-organizational coordination on large and complex projects.
Strong Microsoft Office skills required, including Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Tableau, Archer, and workflow-management systems helpful.
Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree a plus.
Salary Range : $89,250.00 to $150,250.00 annually bonus benefits
