Our Community
We have grown from humble beginnings in 1932, from serving 12 residents in one small house in Hagerstown, MD to serving over 2,200 individuals and employing over 1,300 co-workers at five different locations in MD and PA. JOB SUMMARY :
Ensures adequate and appropriate staffing of the facility nursing department to meet the needs of the residents based on budget / census.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Treats all information about residents, theircondition, and family as confidential informationComplies with established Corporate andDepartmental policies and procedures, and maintains established standards andpracticesResponsible for review of 24-hour staffingschedule to ensure optimum level of staff per shift in accordance with Homewoodpolicies, needs and requirementsEnsures the accuracy of staffing schedules withtimely adjustments of changes and makes the schedule available toco-workersCompletes monthly nursing schedules coordinatingrequests to ensure appropriate coverageMaintains daily attendance recordsAssists co-workers in accurate completion offorms (i.e., leave and day off requests, time records, etc.) pertinent toscheduling and staffingWorks with Human Resources and DON whenscheduling modified work duty co-workers in accordance with the TransitionalReturn To Work ProgramConsults with nursing department staff andsupervisors concerning the staffing / scheduling needs and issuesDevelops and maintains a good working rapportwith interdepartmental personnel, as well as other departments within thefacilityReviews complaints and grievances pertinent toscheduling and staffing and communicates the information to the DONMaintains the documentation of special pay / hoursfor staff as determined and approved by managementResponsible for the records of all staffcall-ins and arranging of necessary replacementsResponsible for keeping current rotation listsas determined by AdministrationPerforms other functions as directed by thesupervisorQUALIFICATIONS :
Experience as a scheduler and electronicscheduling in healthcare preferredExercises initiative, judgment, and problemsolving capabilities in dealing with scheduling challengesMust have patience, tact, a cheerful dispositionand enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult schedulingsituations with co-workersMust have the ability to create strategies andrecruit co-workers for scheduling purposesAdvanced planning, time management, and decisionmaking skills; detail and results-focused with consistencyProficiency with computer skills in MicrosoftWord, Excel and scheduling softwareData entry skills, accuracy, detailed orientedand ability to work independently with little supervisionGood communication skills and able to work wellwith othersAbility to read, write and understand Englishwell
