Job Details
Provides advanced-level respiratory care to patients to diagnose, evaluate, treat, manage, and control cardiopulmonary system deficiencies and abnormalities.
Acts as a resource to CRT staff and may handle special clinical projects or assignments.
Performs, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic testing procedures including obtaining arterial gases.
Oversees and troubleshoots respiratory equipment for optimal patient care.
Initiates respiratory protocols and interventions based on assessments.
Administers medications safely and evaluates their effects.
Communicates patient progress to staff, physicians, and other departments.
Maintains awareness of patient conditions and makes care recommendations.
Educates patients and families on health promotion, wellness, and self-care techniques.
Completes documentation according to departmental standards and monitors supplies and equipment.
Participates in quality and patient safety initiatives and departmental meetings.
Promotes the respiratory care profession and acts as a resource, consultant, and mentor.
Participates in quality improvement and research activities as part of the Respiratory Care Team.
May float to other departments within scope of competency and qualifications.
May be required to be on-call during scheduled shifts.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
Schedule Information
May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
