Job Title : Computer Technician Exemption Status / Test : Nonexempt
Reports to : Director of Technology
Dept. / School : Technology
Number of Days : 240 days
Primary Purpose :
Perform on-site technical work to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair district computers, software, peripherals, network hardware, VoIP phones, video conferencing systems, access control systems, and video surveillance systems. Provide technical support and train users on basic technology equipment operations and software applications. Perform other technology department duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Education / Certification :
High school diploma or GED
Preferred- Associate's degree in a Technology
Clear and valid Texas driver's license
Special Knowledge / Skills :
Knowledge of computer workstation setup, computer hardware, software applications, computer imaging, and basic network infrastructure.
Ability to install, maintain, and repair computers and peripherals, including printers, scanners.
Ability to install and maintain network cables and hardware.
Ability to diagnose computer hardware and network problems and perform repairs.
Experience :
Two-year work experience installing, maintaining, and repairing computers and peripherals in a network environment.

Climbing, stooping, bending, and kneeling; frequent use of small hand tools and electronic test equipment; frequent districtwide travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. May be required to be on-call 24 hours a day.

Posture : Prolonged sitting and standing; regular kneeling / squatting, bending / stooping, pushing / pulling, and twisting.

Lifting : Moderatelifting and carrying (up to 44 pounds); occasional heavy lifting (45 pounds and over)
Environment : Exposure to electrical hazards; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; frequent districtwide travel; May be required to be on-call 24 hours a day.
