Job Summary :
As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of reusable medical devices and supplies within patient care. Your responsibilities will include decontamination, cleaning, processing, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution of these vital resources, along with assembling and dispatching surgical case carts.
Key Responsibilities :
- Demonstrate leadership competencies as a Leader of Self, Others, or Leaders.
- Decontaminate and clean reusable equipment / instruments in compliance with departmental and OSHA standards.
- Assemble, sterilize, store, and distribute medical devices and supplies for optimal patient care.
- Follow departmental and OSHA guidelines meticulously when managing materials, aligning standards with AMI (Advancement of Medical Instrumentation).
- Organize and dispatch surgical case carts following physician preference cards generated electronically.
- Conduct physical inventories of floor stock and the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) to maintain accurate system processes and provide input on PAR levels.
- Collaborate with Material Management to monitor supply usage and ensure effective organization of materials.
- Utilize inventory control devices and programs such as Meditech efficiently.
- Maintain effective communication with inter / intradepartmental associates and convey information accurately.
- Cater to the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, and age-specific needs of patients served by the department.
- Uphold compliance with all policies, procedures, and standards dictated by state and federal entities, the hospital, and other regulatory bodies.
- Safeguard patient confidentiality and ensure that sensitive information is disclosed only as necessary for job performance.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned to enhance department operations.
Qualifications : Education / Skills :
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.Experience :
6 to 12 months of hands-on sterile processing experience strongly preferred.Prior sterile processing experience is a plus.Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations :
Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) by IAHCSMM is preferred.Certified Registered Central Sterile Tech is desirable.Work Schedule : 3PM - 11PM
