Surgical Technologist

  • About Facility :

Licensed for 457 beds

  • Level 3 Trauma
  • Stroke center of Excellence
  • Bariatric center of Excellence
  • Chest Pain Center
  • Maternal Fetal Medicine Referral Center
  • Radius rule :  Traveler’s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
  • Unit Information :

    • Average census of 9-10 patients daily

  • Beds : 13 labor beds, 5 triage rooms
  • Minimum Years of Experience required : 1 year of Surg Tech experience – OB experience is required
  • Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes
  • Patient Types / Common Diagnoses :

    • High Risk Antepartum, Labor, Immediate Postpartum

  • Active Labor, Triage, Pre-Eclampsia and other Hypertension disorders of pregnancy, other common pregnancy / delivery conditions and complications
  • Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and / or Insurance :

    • Surg Tech : BLS; Graduation from and accredited program required, CST is strongly preferred

  • Skills required :

    • Surgical Tech :  Ability to set up OR and maintain sterile technique throughout c-section deliveries; comfortability to assist physicians and team in vaginal deliveries

  • Support within the Department :

    • Secretary M-F 8-5

  • Scrub Tech to assist in procedures
  • OB Mentor
  • Charge nurse, 24 / 7
  • Phlebotomy - In hospital
  • IV / VAT Team - In hospital
  • RT 24 / 7
  • Hospitalist 24 / 7
  • Intensivist 24 / 7
  • OB Physicians
  • Anesthesia / CRNA team
  • Telemetry monitoring – bedside and nurses station
  • Technology / Equipment :

    • EMR : EPIC

  • IV Pump : Alaris
  • Med dispensing : Omnicell
  • Monitors : GE
  • Unit specific equipment : Monica Novii, Neptune
  • Floating :

    • None

  • Orientation (facility and unit) :

    • NEO

  • 2 days departmental
  • Scheduling :

    • Weekend rotation : every other

  • No call required for travelers
  • Holiday Expectations : Travelers will work holidays as scheduled
  • RTO : Manager approval
  • Other notes :

    • Scrub Color : Hospital provided green OR scrubs
