Summary
The Clubhouse Youth Engagement / Recreation Specialist is directly responsible for the implementation of evidence-based, recreation services, and member engagement practices, recruitment and outreach. This position reports directly to the Senior Youth Engagement Specialist.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Actively promote and engage Members’ participation in Clubhouse activities.
- Co-facilitate peer led activities.
- Share personal knowledge and experiences about the youth serving systems and resources available to youth
- Provide positive youth development activities.
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of participants in the clubhouse.
- Facilitates evidence -based programs and workshops.
Conducts community education forums ( focused on recovery and drug prevention).
Develop and implement additional pro social and recreational activities.Plans and participates in community cultural and recreational activities.Engage in the ongoing recruitment of Clubhouse Members ( outreach events that may include weekend hours)Participates in staff and team meetings.Enter all services on a daily / weekly basis into a data entry system and maintain up to date documentationEnsure the health, safety, and well-being of Members in a sports program by providing close supervision of all activitiesCreate an atmosphere where all Members can have fun, are safe and learn the importance of good principled athleticsOther Skills and Abilities :
Must have strong interpersonal skills to support leadership, management, negotiation and problem-solving functions of this role.Friendly, courteous, service-orientated, professional, outgoing, and client service oriented.Detail oriented while maintaining an extremely positive attitude.Must be able to work independently and productively with minimum supervision.Team play with a “can do” attitude that can work in a fast-paced environment.Ability to establish and maintain professional atmosphere for employees.Organize tasks, manages time well and directs oneself.Performs job tasks in a manner that does not result in negative audit reviews.Maintains a work focused atmosphere; shares techniques for increasing productivity.Performs duties in a manner that expedites work requirements.Manages time, adheres to deadlines and prioritizes tasks.Qualifications :
First Aid / CPR / AED certifications (Can be obtained after employment)Must successfully complete a criminal background check, obtain clearance from the Office of Children and Family Services, OASAS and be drug free.Education and / or Experience :
CRPA Certified Recovery Peer Advocate certification, preferred, with a HS Diploma or HSE, and at least 2 or more years of experience working with at- risk youthAAS or BS / BS in Human Services is preferred.Must have computer skills.Must successfully complete a criminal background check, obtain clearance from the Office of Children and Family Services and be drug free.Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact in your community?
