Position Summary
As a Cook at Pali Mountain, you are a key part of a high-volume kitchen team serving up to 1,000 guests daily. This role includes preparing, cooking, and serving meals across breakfast, lunch, and dinner shifts while ensuring food quality, safety, timeliness, and kitchen efficiency. Cooks are also expected to take initiative in supervising shift operations, supporting team members, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner according to schedule and recipes.
- Ensure meals are served on time, in correct portions, and meet quality and dietary standards.
- Set up and break down stations efficiently before and after each meal.
- Work collaboratively with other shifts to ensure a smooth transition and consistent service.
- Take ownership of shift operations, guiding kitchen staff through prep, cooking, service, and cleanup.
- Maintain open communication between team members and management.
- Delegate tasks as needed and ensure all team members follow safety and sanitation standards.
- Provide support, direction, and problem-solving during busy or unsupervised times.
- Follow and complete daily prep lists and ensure tasks are checked off throughout the shift.
- Monitor and rotate all food stock using FIFO (First In, First Out) standards.
- Label and store ingredients properly and discard expired items following waste log procedures.
- Maintain awareness of inventory needs and notify management if supplies are running low.
- Clean and sanitize workstations, tools, and kitchen equipment throughout and at the end of each shift.
- Ensure all food is stored and served at proper temperatures and handled according to food safety protocols.
- Use proper hygiene practices including frequent handwashing and appropriate kitchen attire.
- Maintain and monitor equipment for cleanliness and functionality.
- Communicate clearly with kitchen staff, front-of-house staff, and management.
- Accurately document waste and expired product, and assist with inventory control as needed.
- Report any concerns about menu execution, food quality, or safety issues promptly.
- Train and mentor new prep cooks and cooks, ensuring they understand kitchen procedures, safety standards, and prep expectations.
Qualifications
Prior cooking experience required; high-volume kitchen experience strongly preferred.Strong time management, multitasking, and communication skills.Familiarity with commercial kitchen operations and food safety protocols.Ability to follow prep lists, recipes, and directions with consistency.Able to work calmly and effectively under pressure.Requirements
Open availability including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.Must have reliable transportation to and from work.Must be able to report to work during all weather conditions, including snow and rain.Must be at least 18 years old (or as required by local laws).Must be able to pass a background check and attend mandatory orientation.Benefits :
