Maintenance and Repair Position
This position will perform maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, and related utilities. Assist journeyman / higher grade maintenance workers in performing more difficult assignments such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, cement work, painting, roofing, and other trades. These positions may be filled for a six-month seasonal period, but can be vary due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty : March-July 2026.
Responsibilities :
Physical Effort : Works from ladders, scaffolds and platforms and where surfaces to be coated, or the parts of systems worked on are hard to reach requiring the incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, carries and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 40 pounds.
Working Conditions : Work is performed inside and outside where dirt, spray, and fumes are present. Also required to work in inclement weather and / or wear protective equipment and clothing that are sometimes heavy and uncomfortable.
Cedar Breaks National Monument : is at an elevation of 10,300 feet and is open year-round. The climate at the Monument in the summer months is moderate and dry with daytime temperatures in the 70s and overnight temperatures in the 40s and low 50s. In the winter, the Monument receives a significant amount of snowfall and offers a variety of winter recreational activities such as skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobile riding. The monument is in the second year of construction of a new visitor contact station that will be located at Pt. Supreme. Cedar City, UT, is at an elevation of 5,800 feet and has a population of over 30,000 people. The area offers affordable housing and a great quality of life and is in close proximity to a wide variety of outdoor recreational opportunities, National Park Service, BLM, and Forest Service areas and the popular Brian Head downhill skiing area. A full range of amenities is available including medical services, hospital, schools, churches, department stores, and restaurants. Southern Utah University is in Cedar City and is the home of the Utah Shakespearean Festival, which provides an important economic and cultural infusion to the area.
