About The Position

Job Title : Central Sterile Technician Per Diem

Location : Shasta Regional Medical Center California

Position Summary :

Shasta Regional Medical Center is seeking an experienced Central Sterile Technician to join our Per Diem Sterile Processing team . The Central Sterile Tech is responsible for the cleaning, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment used throughout the hospital.

Key Responsibilities :

Clean, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments, trays, and equipment according to established procedures.

Operate autoclaves, ultrasonic washers, and other sterilization equipment safely and effectively.

Maintain accurate sterilization records and ensure all documentation meets regulatory standards.

Monitor and report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.

Distribute sterile supplies and instrument sets to operating rooms and clinical departments.

Maintain inventory of sterile and non-sterile supplies within the department.

Follow infection control, aseptic technique, and hospital safety protocols at all times.

Qualifications (Legally Required) :

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Central Service / Sterile Processing Certification (IAHCSMM or CBSPD) required by California law for acute-care hospitals

BLS (AHA) certification required

Minimum 2 years of recent acute-care sterile processing experience required per company policy

Shift Details : Type : Per Diem

Schedule : Variable, based on surgical volume and departmental needs

Setting : Central Sterile Processing / Operating Room Support
