American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a critical care ICU position requiring a compact or AZ state license, ACLS and BLS certification, and strong EKG and critical care skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care ICU setting with units covering CVICU, COVID-ICU, medical-surgical ICU, and PCU under a unified critical care service lineCare for diverse populations including post-surgical, cardiac, COVID-19, and complex critical care patientsNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 1-2 in ICU and 1 : 3-4 in PCU, determined by acuity and staffingUtilize advanced equipment including CRRT (Prismaflex), Impella, TAVR, VAD devices, IABP, art lines, Swan-Ganz, ventilators, and telemetry monitors (Nihon Khoden)Cerner EMR is used for documentation12-hour day shifts with schedules published 4 weeks in advance; some self-scheduling available but final approval by managementRequired to work two weekend shifts per pay periodFloat required to PCU, MST, or other critical care areas as needed, with travelers first to floatMay be placed on call if low census, typically no more than once every 6 weeksRNs are expected to provide comprehensive care including managing ventilators, troubleshooting advanced equipment, and monitoring critical dripsTravelers may be assigned post-surgical and fresh open heart patients based on experience and skills checklistIntensivist coverage is available 24 / 7; NP support is presentOrientation includes 8 hours of general hospital orientation and up to two 12-hour unit-based shifts with preceptor / buddy supportProfessional scrubs required; navy scrubs preferred starting in OctoberHoliday coverage required, including one winter holiday and one holiday eveNo nurse aides or monitor techs; RNs are responsible for all strip reading and patient monitoringCandidates must provide two professional references (one supervisor from the past 12 months and another from a peer or supervisor within three years) for considerationCopy of driver’s license required for considerationSterile technique testing for Foley and central line dressing proficiency is performed during orientation\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license in hand; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required including ventilator management, critical drips, and advanced cardiac monitoringCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredMust pass dysrhythmia (EKG) exam prior to contract; failure after two attempts disqualifies for 6 monthsAbility to interpret ABGs, titrate and manage all critical care drips (including pressors, heparin, and antiarrhythmics)Preferred experience : IABP, CRRT (Prismaflex), strong EKG interpretation, and care of fresh open heart patientsFamiliarity with advanced equipment such as Impella, TAVR, and VAD devices is highly preferredMust not have been employed (FT, PT, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit facility, CHI, or Dignity in the past yearMust reside at least 50 miles from the facility\n Benefits\n
