Description : Job Summary :
NewRange is looking for an organized and motivated Core Technician to support geoscience activities at the NorthMet and Sunrise Cu-Ni-PGE projects, located in northern Minnesota. Reporting to the Geoscience Supervisor, the successful applicant will carry out a range of essential tasks to enable the efficient and accurate collection of data from drill core samples, and support fieldwork as necessary. This temporary role is anticipated to begin mid-January 2026 and end around late December 2026.

Overview :
Located in the historic iron range mining region of northeastern Minnesota, NewRange is a 50 : 50 joint venture of subsidiaries of Teck American Inc. (Teck) and PolyMet Mining Corp. (Glencore) that is advancing two major copper-nickel-platinum-palladium deposits, NorthMet and Sunrise. Project activities range from readying the feasibility stage NorthMet project for a production decision pending clearance of mine permits to advancing the nearby Sunrise project to pre-feasibility studies and permitting. NewRange is committed to unlocking a new domestic supply chain of critical metals for the transition to a low-carbon economy and positioning Minnesota as a world leader in sustainable mineral resource development.
Requirements :
Promote a safety leadership culture by ensuring that proper safety practices are followed in accordance with NewRanges health and safety policies.
Contribute to the safe, productive, and efficient execution of NewRange geoscience activities through effective and timely :
o Drill core handling (loading / offloading of sample boxes and bags by hand, loading / offloading samples via forklift).
o Drill core sample cutting and bagging.
o Organization of core boxes and sample bags.
o Alignment of drill core and check for driller errors.
o Measurement and marking of drill core.
o Collection of various physical property data from drill core.
o Collection of high-resolution core photography.
Assist with other geoscience tasks (as required).
Fieldwork (as required).
Warehouse duties, as required, such as organizing samples for dispatch or long-term storage.
Contribute to a culture of teamwork and encourage cooperation and open communication between team members.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications :
Grade 12 High School education or higher.
Prior work experience is considered an asset.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Keen attention to detail; strong organizational and time management skills.
Must be able to stand for extended periods.
Must be able to walk for extended periods of time.
Ability to operate a forklift or have the ability to learn to operate.
Ability to use hand or fingers to handle or feel.
Ability to reach with hands and arms.
Ability to climb or balance.
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, squat or crawl.
Ability to regularly lift and / or move up to 50 lbs. throughout the day.
Ability to wear respirator for extended periods.
Ability to manage repetitive tasks.
Excellent communication skills.
Compensation details : 25-30 Hourly Wage
