Were looking for an Accountant to join our growing Client Accounting Services (CAS) team. This role supports our small business and nonprofit clients with their day-to-day financial operationsfrom payroll to reconciliations to financial reporting. If you're a detail-oriented person who enjoys variety, wants to make a difference, and thrives in a collaborative environment, this is the role for you.
What You'll Do
- Prepare general ledger entries and assist with monthly close processes.
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and support accurate financial reporting.
- Process payroll and assist with payroll tax filings and compliance.
- Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and basic sales & use tax filings.
- Follow standardized procedures and checklists to ensure consistent, high-quality work.
- Document client-specific procedures and stay current on best practices.
- Support your team and clients by suggesting process improvements and detecting anomalies.
- Collaborate with team members and clients while managing your own workflow and deadlines.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience)Familiarity with accounting principles and accounting softwareAbility to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlinesStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectivelyClear communication skills and a team-first mindsetCuriosity, initiative, and a desire to growAnalytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.Basic proficiency in sales & use tax, and payroll compliance.Experience working with payroll systems, general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus, but not requiredWhy You'll Love Working at Varneys
