About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Tax Accountant to join the Tax & Advisory team. The ideal candidate will be able to prepare and review individual and entity tax returns, as well as conduct tax planning and supporting client advisory work. The candidate should be a self-starter with excellent communication skills, who thrives in a collaborative environment, and is excited to be part of a growing and forward-thinking financial services firm.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and review complex individual, partnership, S corporation, C corporation, trust, and estate tax returns
- Collaborate closely with wealth advisors to deliver integrated tax and financial planning strategies
- Provide proactive tax planning and year-end projection analysis for high-net-worth clients and closely held businesses
- Clearly communicate tax results and implications to clients verbally and in writing
- Respond to IRS and state notices, manage audits, and handle tax authority correspondence
- Conduct research on complex tax issues and regulatory changes to ensure ongoing compliance and planning opportunities
- Support clients with multi-state filings, estimated tax payments, and AMT / NIIT considerations
- Oversee preparation and review of tax basis schedules, depreciation calculations, and carryforward analysis
- Identify opportunities to streamline internal processes and implement technology solutions to enhance accuracy and efficiency
- Assist with internal tax calendar management and ensure timely completion of all deliverables
- Maintain thorough documentation of client communications and workpapers to support audit readiness and internal standards
- Support business development efforts, including assisting with proposals or onboarding new clients from a tax perspective
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Credentials
Bachelors degree in Accounting or a related field requiredCPA or EA designation required (or CPA / EA-eligible with active pursuit of licensure within 12-months)Masters in Taxation or related advanced degree is a plusExperience & Expertise
Minimum 4+ years of progressive experience in tax preparation and planning, preferably within a public accounting firm, family office, or wealth management environmentDeep experience working with high-net-worth individuals, trusts, closely held businesses, and investment-related tax issuesSolid understanding of federal, state, and local tax codes, especially as they relate to small business owners, real estate, and pass-through entitiesFamiliarity with estate, gift, and generation-skipping tax planning is a plusDemonstrated ability to manage complex tax engagements and competing deadlines with minimal supervisionExperience managing client relationships and conducting regular meetings with clientsCommunication & Presence
Clear and professional written and verbal communication skillsComfortable discussing tax matters with clients and colleagues in a relatable, jargon-free mannerCollaborative, empathetic, and professional presence with a client-first attitudeAbility to contribute to client meetings, including presentation of planning strategies and responding to tax-specific questionsTechnical Proficiency
Advanced proficiency in tax software platforms such as UltraTax, ProSystems, Drake, or similar programsProficient in Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, and OutlookExperience with cloud-based document management systems and secure file sharing toolsWillingness to adopt new technology and contribute to continuous improvement initiativesBENEFITS
