Production Administrator
MEPPI's Transportation Systems Division (TSD) is looking for a Production Administrator to plan, schedule, and direct the flow of work and material within the division to ensure that customer commitments are met. In this role you will also prepare, monitor, and revise schedules according to availability of materials, resources, and production capacity.
Essential Functions
- Plan, prepare and control execution of master schedules to meet customer site dates according to sales forecasts and customer orders. Communicate schedules to management. Investigate and recommend solutions to problems and schedule deviations which may affect the production schedule.
- Recommend corrective actions and corresponding implications of missed schedule deadlines. Ensure appropriate business sections and make adjustments to recover scheduled commitments.
- Create and analyze reports and summaries to assess efficiencies or bottlenecks within business processes. Present findings and recommend corrective actions.
- Create sub-assembly jobs and subsequent shippable requirements to meet the production schedule.
- Develop and execute shipping schedules. Direct work of production clerks to ensure shipments are timely and within budget.
- Regularly communicate with other department members regarding incoming parts / materials, parts changes / shortages, delivery schedules, and other variables which may impact the production schedule.
- Continually evaluate scheduling tools and methods, recommend process improvements, and implement upgrades to production scheduling techniques for the division.
- Process units into the Company Business System from new orders.
- Review and schedule new orders using the master schedule. Maintain master schedule and scheduling module in the Company Business System.
- Review manufactured items through the Company Business System. Create inventory jobs. Identify and resolve errors.
- Conduct weekly Production and weekly Forecast meetings to ensure shop flow and schedule adherence.
- Review customer change notices and ECN's and confirm that necessary changes are made.
- Support Business System training with manufacturing department members when needed.
- Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Division by conducting business with MEPPI departments and outside contacts in a timely and cooperative manner.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business or operations-related field with a minimum of five years of experience in production scheduling / control including prior experience with MRP / ERP systems, or equivalent education and experience.Intermediate knowledge of production processes, inventory control, cycle counting, raw materials, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing effective manufacturing and distribution of goods.Intermediate knowledge of bill of materials concepts.Advanced interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required to communicate with employees and outside contacts.Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to develop production plans and schedules.Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office products and MRP / ERP systems.
