What you'll do
- General Responsibilities : Support supplier quality planning and execution of manufacturing, assembly techniques and quality control processes from the advanced development phase to mass production using APQP and VDA quality management processes
- Support all quality performance and functional standards to ensure all vehicle activities are met in the supply chain to meet customer satisfaction
- Ensure supplier compliance with Scout's quality expectations and escalate issues when necessary
- Manage Supplier PPAPs and ongoing activities within the supply chain from development to series production
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles
- Support and lead suppliers in efficient use of best methods of manufacturing, testing, and gauing, poke-yokes and correct tools or assembly equipment to use
Quality Assurance & Control
Proactively and reactively contain quality issues at suppliersReview and approve boundary samples, appearance catalogs, and other quality documentationValidate supplier corrective actions involving design / process changes using read-across methodologySupport the planning, execution and evaluation of root cause analysis to ensure high quality of Scout production vehicles through fast response methodologiesDrive quality improvements to meet and exceed KPIs with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teamsProcess & Change Management
Ensure suppliers have exceptionally robust processes and procedures to promote mass industrialization through efficient and seamless production of high-quality productsMonitor supplier manufacturing process development and launch readiness for new products and design changesFacilitate change management for product architecture requestsSupport NCR (Non-Conformance Report) resolution and warranty claim mitigationCollaboration & Communication
Partner with Supply Chain to escalate and resolve issues promptlyFacilitate technical requirement alignment between Suppliers and Scout's Purchasing, Quality, and Design teamsCollaborate with Design, Quality, and Manufacturing to define performance specs and supplier metricsWork cross-functionally across Scout departments to ensure seamless executionAudits & Compliance
Conduct supplier audits and ensure corrective actions are implementedParticipate in supplier reviews, including new supplier onboarding and design-for-manufacturability assessmentsInnovation & Cost Optimization
Lead supplier improvements in cost, quality, and manufacturabilityFacilitate adoption of new or alternative materials to enhance design robustness, quality, and cost efficiencyLeadership & Representation
Represent Scout with professionalism and respect during supplier interactionsLead and champion Scout's quality expectations to ensure KPIs are consistently metLocation & Travel Expectations
This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, South CarolinaThe responsibilities of this role require attendance in office with in-person meetings and events regularlyApplicants should expect the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to timeTravel : Domestic and international travel required, approximately 40-70% of the time. Education / Certifications : A bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field); master's degree preferredYears of Experience : 3 – 5 years in a supplier quality role, preferably in an automotive environmentCommunication : Strong written and verbal communication skillsVDA Auditing Experience preferredExperience in Quality Systems : In-depth knowledge of GD&T and inspection; PPAP / APQP / VDA processesStrong operations experience and understanding of vehicle assembly / functionalityProven ability to direct supplier activities at the management level to meet customer requirementsProject management capabilitiesAIAG Core Tools certification (MSA, APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP)Strong cross-functional collaboration and interpersonal skillsLeadership, team management, and entrepreneurial mindsetTechnical understanding of vehicle development, production, and supply chain managementData analysis and SPC proficiency; ability to explain complex issues conciselyUnderstanding of IATF, VDA, ISO, DIN, and regulatory requirementsSafety requirements awarenessWillingness to travel 40-70% domestically and internationallyValid driver's license; Passport requiredWhat you'll gain

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Initial base salary range = $95,000.00 - $120,000.00.
