Job Title : Assistant Controller

Location : Sturgis, MI (Fully Onsite)

Salary Range : $120,000 - $150,000 (Relocation available on a case-by-case basis)

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Assistant Controller to join our team and support financial leadership within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role offers the opportunity to manage a small team, lead critical financial processes, and directly impact strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with excellent communication skills, strong business acumen, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the month-end close process , ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

Manage a small accounting team, providing guidance, coaching, and development opportunities.

Oversee capital projects, lease agreements, and fixed asset accounting , ensuring compliance and accuracy.

Partner with leadership to deliver actionable insights through variance and margin analysis.

Drive process improvements by leveraging advanced Excel skills and financial systems.

Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and corporate policies.

Collaborate across business units to support financial planning, forecasting, and cost management initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA and / or CPA preferred .

7+ years of progressive accounting / finance experience in manufacturing; public accounting background strongly preferred.

Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.

Proven ability to manage and mentor a team effectively.

Expertise in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, modeling, and analysis).

Strong attention to detail, with a curious and collaborative mindset .

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to work cross-functionally and influence business partners.
