Continuous Improvement Engineer II
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineer is a key leadership role responsible for identifying, leading, and executing operational improvement initiatives that drive productivity, efficiency, safety, and quality at our concrete pole manufacturing facility. This role will champion Lean manufacturing principles, coordinate cross-functional projects, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. The CI Engineer will be a proactive problem-solver and change agent, collaborating with plant leadership and frontline teams to implement sustainable improvements that support the plant's transformational growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities :
- Project Leadership
- Lead and manage cross-functional projects from initiation through implementation and sustainment.
- Ensure all projects are tracked, resourced, communicated, and completed on time and within scope.
- Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Safety, Quality, and Supply Chain to deliver results.
- Continuous Improvement / Lean Systems
- Identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement using data, observation, and stakeholder input.
- Plan and facilitate Kaizen events, value stream mapping sessions, and root cause analyses (RCAs).
- Implement Lean tools such as 5S, Kanban, Standard Work, and Visual Management.
- Help teams move from reactive to preventive problem-solving.
- Standardization & Sustainability
- Drive the creation and rollout of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Support operational discipline and accountability systems to ensure process adherence.
- Data & Metrics
- Collect and analyze operational data to monitor trends, identify bottlenecks, and measure improvement.
- Develop dashboards, KPIs, and reporting structures aligned to CI initiatives.
- Change Management
- Act as a champion for change, supporting teams through transitions with communication, training, and coaching.
- Partner with HR and leadership to develop frontline engagement strategies.
- Safety & Quality
- Integrate safety and quality considerations into all improvement efforts.
- Support risk assessments and root cause investigations related to incidents and quality issues.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.37 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial operations, preferably in a continuous improvement or project engineering role.Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.Proven experience with project management tools and techniques (PMP certification a plus).Strong analytical, facilitation, and leadership skills.Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organization.Bilingual (English / Spanish) a plus.Job-Based Accountabilities (JBA) :

Lean / CI Program Development CI roadmap created and maintained. Minimum 4 Kaizen events facilitated per year. Visual management implemented in at least two focus areas annually. Standard Work & Process Documentation Creation and implementation of SOPs in critical areas. Documented and trained processes with clear ownership. Team Engagement & Facilitation Positive feedback from department heads on collaboration. CI culture engagement measured via pulse surveys or feedback. Training sessions or workshops delivered to develop CI mindset. KPI Performance & Reporting Functional dashboards in place for CI, safety, quality, and productivity. Regular analysis and action plans tied to data insights.
