Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a fast-paced Emergency Department position requiring at least 3 years of high-acuity ED experience and a WA or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
Work in a high-volume Emergency Department at a Level III trauma centerThe department has 34 beds and 12 hallway beds, including a fast track zone with 13 bedsTreats patients from neonate to geriatric, including pediatric medical and trauma, stroke, cardiac, behavioral health, and substance use disorder casesPatient ratios of 1 : 3-5 based on acuityNo floating requiredUses Epic EMR (experience strongly recommended), Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitoring equipmentWork 12-hour day shifts with variable start times including early and late mids; every other weekend is required and up to 1-2 holidays per contractResponsibilities include critical care, trauma, code response, stroke (TPA administration), and coordination with the cath lab and transfer teams for high-acuity casesUnit support includes ED techs, medical assistants, reception / HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV / VAT team (until 2300), hospitalist, mid-level providers, and 24 / 7 securityRNs are responsible for drawing their own labs, especially on night shifts1-2 shifts of unit orientation are provided with preceptor support while carrying a patient assignmentMust have flexibility with shift times and be available for weekend and some holiday coverageScrub color is any solid color with no logosFree parking is available onsiteUp to 7 days off may be approved during contractRequirements
Active WA or compact RN licenseAt least 3 years of ED experience in a large volume, high-acuity settingCurrent certifications required : ACLS, BLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCCStrong emergency nursing skills including critical care and pediatric experienceExperience with chest tubes, arterial lines, medication drips, splinting, Bipap / ventilators, barcode medication administration, and triage (must pass hospital triage test prior to assignment)Pediatric emergency medicine experience highly preferredEpic EMR experience is strongly recommendedFirst-time travelers are not acceptedBenefits
