Job descriptionJob Summary The Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist is responsible for assisting physicians and nurses in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures. This role involves preparing patients, operating specialized imaging and monitoring equipment, and ensuring patient safety throughout procedures. The technologist plays a vital role in supporting cardiovascular care and improving patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities Prepare patients for cardiac catheterization and related procedures.Operate and maintain specialized imaging and monitoring equipment during procedures.Assist physicians with diagnostic and interventional procedures, including angioplasty and stent placement.Monitor patient status and vital signs throughout procedures.Ensure compliance with sterile technique, infection control, and safety protocols.Document patient information, procedure details, and equipment usage accurately.Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care.Maintain and troubleshoot cath lab equipment to ensure readiness.Provide patient and family education regarding procedures and post-procedure care.Participate in emergency interventions such as cardiac arrest response. Required Qualifications Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, or related field.Current licensure or certification as required by [state / region].Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and procedures.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work effectively in high-stress, fast-paced environments. Preferred Qualifications (if any) Experience with interventional cardiology procedures.Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.Advanced training in electrophysiology or peripheral vascular procedures. Certifications (if any) Basic Life Support (BLS) – required.Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – preferred.Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) – preferred.Radiologic Technologist certification (ARRT) – preferred depending on facility requirements.
