Job description

Job Summary

CalPortland is seeking a summer intern for the Corporate Engineering Group. This internship is ideal for a student interested in electrical engineering and automation. The intern will have the opportunity to work on a variety of heavy capital projects and / or maintenance projects. Exposure to various plants, aggregate, ready-mix, and cement.

Compensation

$20.50-$27.00 / hr

Responsibilities

  • Perform data collection for power system studies
  • Create and / or modify drawings as needed for projects, plant improvements or in response to plant requests
  • Assist Automation team as required
  • Complete Safety and MSHA training and any other site / job specific required training
  • Carry-out and practice all Safety training and Company policies in the CalPortland workplace
  • Provide help, designing and budgeting for projects at multiple plant locations
  • Additional work with other engineering disciplines
  • Assist in routine housekeeping and maintenance of the facilities
  • Learn about other CalPortland departments and interface as required
  • Attend summer intern orientation event at corporate headquarters in Las Vegas, NV
  • Perform plant tasks as assigned

Education

Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Good attendance and punctual
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Must possess valid driver's license, insurance and be insurable to drive company vehicles
  • Conditions of Employment

    Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug / alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
