The Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder (MSR) is Minnesota’s oldest Black-owned newspaper and one of the longest-standing, family-owned news organizations in the nation. Founded in 1934 by Cecil E. Newman, MSR has spent over 90 years amplifying Black voices, informing communities, and driving conversations that shape Minnesota’s future. Today, under the leadership of CEO / Publisher Tracey Williams-Dillard, MSR continues to innovate across print, digital, and multimedia platforms.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Multimedia Journalist / Editor to help shape MSR’s newsroom of the future. This hybrid role combines reporting, writing, editing, and multimedia production. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with strong news judgment, digital savvy, and a passion for community-centered journalism.
You’ll write and edit stories that elevate underrepresented voices, produce multimedia packages for web and social, and collaborate across departments to bring powerful stories to life.
