At Acton, we design, navigate, and build accessory dwelling units (ADUs), also known as backyard homes. These ADUs help create accessible housing options for thousands of homeowners across the Bay Area, while positively impacting people’s lives.

THE ROLE :

The Lead Carpenter will perform carpentry and construction duties on multiple projects while assisting in the supervision of 1-3 projects. (This position may eventually lead to a full superintendent position, if desired - if the candidate shows exceptional organizational skills.)

Minimum Skill Requirements :

• Extensive construction experience in journeyman-level roles.
• Mastery of plan reading.
• Thorough knowledge of residential building procedures and familiarity with CA Building Codes.
• Solid math skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with in-house labor, office staff, subcontractors, and inspectors.

Stan Acton has been a builder since he was 10 years old. It began the day he broke his father’s wooden mallet. The mallet had been crafted by Stan’s father when he was a kid, on his own father’s Shopsmith lathe. Stan was devastated and rushed to grab a piece of firewood.
