Report to : General Manager

Part-time, Hourly, On-site

$23 - $25 hourly

Hiring Assistant Managers for our San Jose stores!

At Palmetto Superfoods, we specialize in making one-of-a-kind superfood bowls with authentic Brazilian Açaí coupled with an array of additional bases and toppings that compliment your tastebuds! Assistant Manager : Starting at $23 / hr - $25 / hr (The final compensation offer will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, education, and food industry certifications).

ASSISTANT MANAGERIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :

Operational Leadership :

  • Oversee daily store operations to ensure smooth and efficient service throughout all shifts.
  • Support Managers in implementing company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Coordinate with Shift Leads to ensure all workstations are properly staffed and functioning efficiently.
  • Monitor product quality, presentation, and consistency, reinforcing adherence to Palmetto Superfoods’ recipes and preparation standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation protocols, maintaining a clean and organized environment at all times.
  • Address and resolve minor operational issues or service disruptions in real time, escalating complex matters to management when necessary.
  • Lead by example by maintaining exceptional customer service standards and positive team morale.

Team Development & Supervision :

  • Supervise Shift Leads and Team Members, providing daily guidance, coaching, and feedback.
  • Support the Manager in onboarding and training new hires, ensuring full understanding of policies and SOPs.
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful, and motivating team culture that aligns with Palmetto Superfoods’ values.
  • Conduct mini-shift huddles or follow-ups to align the team on goals, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Identify training gaps and recommend skill-building opportunities for team members.
  • Step into leadership of a shift when the Manager is unavailable, maintaining high service and operational standards.
  • Administrative & Operational Support :

  • Assist with inventory tracking, ordering, and delivery coordination to maintain proper stock levels and minimize waste.
  • Assist in reviewing and verifying shift reports, daily deposits, and cash handling procedures for accuracy.
  • Support management in reviewing timecards, time-off requests, and ensuring schedule accuracy.
  • Assist with scheduling adjustments, including on-call or urgent requests, to ensure coverage and minimize service disruptions.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate operational documentation, including closing reports, maintenance logs, and incident reports.
  • Collaborate with management to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), labor costs, and waste metrics.
  • Help troubleshoot minor technology or POS issues before escalating to upper management or IT support.
  • Customer Experience & Brand Representation :

  • Lead by example in providing warm, professional, and informative customer interactions.
  • Handle customer feedback or complaints with empathy and professionalism, escalating unresolved concerns to management.
  • Encourage customer feedback and share insights with the team and management to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the team is well-versed in the menu and able to confidently explain ingredients and health benefits.
  • Leadership Partnership :

  • Act as managements’ primary support, ensuring seamless execution of store goals and initiatives.
  • Uphold accountability across all team members for performance, punctuality, and policy adherence.
  • Communicate effectively with management and HR on staffing, scheduling, and employee relations matters.
  • Provide insights to management on team morale, performance, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in implementing new processes or training materials, offering live feedback to refine execution.
  • REQUIREMENTS / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a customer-facing or food service environment.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, efficiently delegate tasks, and uphold high operational and service standards.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Food Safety Manager Certificate is required prior to employment.
  • Experience with basic computer functions and POS systems, including handling order receipts and digital communication platforms.
  • Ability to expedite and complete orders quickly and accurately, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Excellent customer service skills, both in person and through digital communication; a positive and engaging personality is essential.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods, move quickly, and be able to lift up to 25 pounds (e.g., deliveries, supplies).
  • Commitment to maintaining health, safety, and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Must maintain a clean, professional appearance and consistently demonstrate a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Flexibility with scheduling — shifts may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays (7 AM to 9 PM).
  • Open availability is strongly preferred.
  • Must hold a valid Food Handler Permit at the time of hiring.
  • Must be able to provide employment references and complete a reference check as part of the hiring process.
