The Sr. IT Cloud Data Engineer leads the technical design, development, optimization, and support of cloud-based data services across SaaS and Azure platforms. This role is central to enabling data-driven decision-making, supporting business intelligence, and driving innovation in IT services.
Key responsibilities of the role include :
- Developing, supporting, and monitoring end-to-end data pipelines using Microsoft Azure data services (including Azure Data Factory) across SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS solutions.
- Designing, publishing, and managing APIs, application connectors, and ETL / ELT solutions.
- Designing and maintaining database and data storage solutions, selecting and configuring Azure services for cost, performance, scalability, and security.
- Enabling and supporting organization-wide Business Intelligence and Analytics programs, including data collection, transformation, and publishing.
- Developing comprehensive data architecture documentation and long-term IT Service Roadmaps.
- Leading migration efforts from legacy on-premises SQL Server databases to cloud-based services.
- Providing primary and backup support for assigned business software applications and platforms, following ITIL practices and meeting defined SLAs.
Essential Functions
Utilizes Microsoft Azure data services, including Azure Data Factory, to develop, support, and monitor end-to-end data pipelines across SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS solutions. Develops, publishes, and manages API’s, application connectors, and ETL / ELT solutions. Monitors and manages pipeline performance and resolves bottlenecks and performance issues.Designs database and data storage solutions, researching, assessing, selecting, and configuring the appropriate Azure data storage service that best meets cost, performance, scalability, and security requirements. Manages and maintains implemented database and data storage solutions.Enables data-driven strategies and supports organization wide Business Intelligence and Analytics programs. Collects, aggregates, transforms, and publishes datasets and dataset collections for organization wide Business Intelligence and Analytics programs. Supports analysts developing Business Intelligence dashboards, analytics, and data visualizations.Develops comprehensive data architecture documentation and designs. Develops and maintains IT Service Roadmaps of long-term architectural improvements to data platforms and environments.Supports legacy on-premises Microsoft SQL Server databases. Proactively leads efforts to migrate on-premises databases to cloud-based services.Provides primary and backup support for assigned business software applications and platforms, undertaking system and user support, and operations and maintenance tasks, following ITIL practices and meeting defined SLAs.Required Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, or related field is required. An additional four (4) years of relevant experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience supporting databases, data, and enterprise applications is required, as is Azure Data Engineer Associate certification.
Additional Requirements
Knowledge of Microsoft Cloud Platform architectures, including Azure, Microsoft 365 and Dynamics 365.Expert Knowledge of Microsoft Azure Database services for data management, integration, storage, and analytics services.Knowledge of Azure data management to minimize risk of data loss related to Cybersecurity.Skilled in database and data management and maintenance using Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Azure SQL Server.Skilled in the use of Microsoft Power BI for data visualization and analytics.Knowledge of IT best practices and methodologies including ITIL, SDLC, DevOps, and Agile.Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with technical staff and IT service providers in the design of solutions and to resolve issues.Ability to work constructively and collaboratively with all stakeholders to build business value in supported systems.Ability to think critically, maintain personal accountability, and drive change.Ability to work in a demanding, disciplined, professional environment.Ability to manage priorities based on defined strategies and goals.Skilled at supporting complex Enterprise Class Applications and Platforms, both on-premises and SaaS.Skilled technical writer and communicator.This individual must demonstrate a caring customer service attitude, a strong commitment to operational excellence, and dedication to the organization’s core values : Integrity & Transparency; Excellence; Adaptability; Stewardship; Teamwork & Partnerships; and Health & Safety.
