WBG Pioneers, the World Bank Group's Internship Program, offers undergraduate and postgraduate students a high impact learning experience at the heart of global development. Participants gain hands on experience in a diverse and dynamic environment, contribute fresh perspectives and innovative ideas, and connect with international professionals working to end poverty on a livable planet.
The Independent Evaluation Group (IEG) is the World Bank Group's independent evaluation function, assessing the development effectiveness of WBG programs, projects, and strategies and providing evidence-based lessons to inform future operations and policies.
IEG combines rigorous analytical methods with policy relevance, producing thematic evaluations, syntheses, and project reviews that support learning, accountability, and decision-making across the World Bank Group.
IEG's Planet unit focuses on environmental and natural resource challenges, including water resources management, climate and disaster risks, agriculture and land, biodiversity, and pollution.
A core current activity is a thematic evaluation of water resources management (2016-2025), examining how the WBG supports countries in managing water under rising climate, economic, and institutional pressures.
Planet evaluations generate actionable lessons to strengthen future World Bank Group support, informing operational design, policy dialogue, and learning across lending, advisory, and knowledge activities.
