Family Advocate – Troy at CORS Head Start
Position type : Hourly; Pay range : $14.84 – $21.23 per hour. Minimum requirement : high school diploma or equivalent.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, complete and maintain enrollment with eligible families, develop rapport and provide ongoing service through interactions.
- Initiate Family Strengths Assessments and Family Partnership Agreements; provide ongoing support to help families accomplish identified goals.
- Enter data in real time to ensure program integrity.
- Partner with local community resources and agencies.
- Advocate for families, leading them toward healthy self-reliance.
- Encourage and support families to ensure completion of child health screenings.
- Assist families in finding a medical and dental home.
- Guide families to utilize available services; assist them in identifying crisis intervention services and continued support.
- Collaborate with teachers to ensure communication that enables families and children to succeed; keep program flow seamless.
- Plan and co-facilitate Parent Meetings and Family Fun Nights.
Qualifications
Minimum : high school diploma or equivalent; preferred social work, human services, family services, counseling, or related degree.Within 18 months of hire, obtain a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling, or related field.Associate's degree preferred; if no related degree or credential, 2 years of social services experience required.Ability to lift 40 lbs. and work flexible hours.Valid driver's license with acceptable driving history.Excellent interviewing and active listening skills; knowledge of drug culture in communities.Background check, drug test, and physical required.Benefits
