Job descriptionStrong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style. Expertise in AP English Literature and Composition with the ability to explain concepts clearly. Ability to personalize lessons and adapt to different learning styles. Priority given to those with tutoring or teaching experience and graduate-level education. Base contract rates start at $18 / hour and can increase for specialized subjects, with potential to reach up to $40 / hour for ongoing sessions with the same student. Paid up to twice per week for tutoring sessions conducted and invoiced. Set your own hours and work as much as you’d like. Remote tutoring via a purpose-built Live Learning Platform—no commuting required. Get matched with students suited to your teaching style and expertise. AI-powered Tutor Copilot provides real-time instructional support, lesson generation, and engagement features to save prep time. Logistics are handled by Varsity Tutors; you invoice for sessions and we manage payments.

Join Varsity Tutors as an online AP English Literature and Composition tutor. You’ll be matched with students whose learning needs align with your expertise, and you’ll work remotely using our Live Learning Platform.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1-on-1 online tutoring to individual students.
- Deliver personalized instruction and adapt to different learning styles.
- Explain AP English Literature and Composition concepts clearly and effectively.
- Set your own schedule and tutor as much as you’d like.
- Leverage the Live Learning Platform to conduct sessions remotely and efficiently.
- Utilize available tools and features to enhance lesson delivery and engagement.
