MDFT Therapist (Hybrid)

This is a full-time position with 35-hour workweek and flexible / hybrid schedule.

Hope For Youth has an exciting and rare Therapist position opening in its PINS Diversion program. T he Nassau County PINS (Person In Need of Supervision) Diversion program is designed to divert youth who are at risk, from PINS petitions that require court involvement. PINS Diversion services families with children up to the age of 18 in Nassau County.   We are also honored to announce that the Hauppauge Industrial Association of Long Island (HIA-LI), an advocate for its member organizations since 1978, has recognized HFY as their Not-For Profit Business Award honoree for Excellence in 2025! 😊

Families that apply for diversion services have issues including but not limited to school truancy, gang involvement, runaway behaviors, mental health and substance abuse issues.

The PINS diversion program provides short term intensive in-home, family-centered interventions with an overarching goal that will prevent out of home placements, teach problem solving skills to the families, and linkage to a community-based system of care.

A unique component to the diversion program is the incorporation of Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT). MDFT is an evidence based program designed to meet the needs of youth struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues. Paid training in this model provided to the hired Therapist during normal work hours at no cost.

To be a successful MDFT Therapist in HFY's PINS Diversion Program you must be ready, willing and able to do the following always :

• MDFT Therapists function within Agency's policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual.
• MDFT Therapists function within the agency policy and procedures as outlined in the program guide and applicable codes of conduct.
• MDFT Therapists provide support to the clients and families-i.e., the knowledge, skills and tools necessary in order for them to maintain the child in their home.
• MDFT Therapists achieve successful outcomes within the guidelines outlined in NYS, County and HFY policy and procedure (shared).
• MDFT Therapists perform other resulting and necessary work to meet the needs and requirements of the clients, the program, Hope For Youth, oversight agency and any other regulatory obligations

This opportunity is being offered at a salary set by the county that is based upon a 35-hour work week involving a combination of remote, office and field work. The hours are flexible around schedules based upon the needs of the clients.
