The Registered Nurse collaborates with patients, family, and significant others. He or she works with peers, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. The Registered Nurse assesses patient needs. He or she plans care, implements, and evaluates medical and nursing regimens. Care is delivered in accordance with nursing philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards. The Registered Nurse demonstrates leadership skills. There is a commitment to professional accountability and growth. All newly hired, inexperienced nurses must receive ACLS certification within 12 months. All newly hired, experienced nurses must receive ACLS certification within 6 months. Direct oncology care nurses must demonstrate ongoing education or current cancer-specific certification. Registered Nurses in the Emergency Department must complete de-escalation training within one year of hire. Successful completion of the Department and Unit Orientation Program is required.
