Job description

CleanBotix, a leading robotics innovator in automated food

sanitation technology is seeking an experienced Lead Machine Builder for a full time position based at our Grand Rapids Michigan operation. This position will directly supervise the manufacturing team responsible for fabrication, assembly and quality assurance of autonomous sanitation robots. This will be instrumental in building our manufacturing operation and setting up our facility, guiding engineering in robot design improvements and optimizing production processes for quality safety and efficiency.

This leadership position will initially require hands-on involvement in building mechanical subassemblies, installing electronic components, completing wiring and configuring software to deliver fully functioning robots.

Key Responsibilities

Direct supervision of the manufacturing team

Work cross functionally with other teams

Plan, direct, organize and control the manufacturing process and related costs

Ensure that changes and problems get documented and communicated

Support project managers with customer service, planning and status reporting

Assist with project management as needed

Provide timely customer service to both internal and external customers

Communicate technical information and critical processes to the project team

Manage the daily operations by planning the use of materials, floor space, and resources

Continuously analyze the assigned area of responsibility for improved methods of production, tool design, communication, reporting and cost controls; make recommendations to leadership for improvements

Establish and maintain a teamwork culture through leadership, experience, positive attitude, encouragement, and training

Maintain effective inventory control and receiving processes

Set employee expectations, provide feedback, coaching, and accountability to ensure employees meet company expectations as needed and during formal performance reviews

Develop the manufacturing department through leadership, mentoring, and training

Demonstrate a commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety, on time delivery, and quality of our products

Address current and future staffing needs along with participating in the interviewing process

Conduct team meetings to keep the team informed of workload, hours, and company policy updates.

Champion continuous improvement activities and mentor team leaders in the use of lean philosophy and tools

Facilitate general problem-solving activities with the intent of determining corrective and preventative actions

Understand and positively impact KPIs. Balance quality safety, cost, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas

Assembly of equipment per mechanical and electrical drawings

Configure electronics per instructions

Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work area

Effectively and safely operate hand and power tools

Required Qualifications

5+ years of experience in related field

2+ years leadership and mentoring experience

High school diploma, or equivalent certification. Related vocational education or journeyman certificate preferred

Strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives with varying priorities

Proven ability to accept and give direction, set expectations, and hold team members accountable to meet timing, budget, and customer expectations

Strong mechanical aptitude with a focus on safety and quality

Proficient computer skills with MS Office / Google Docs experience

Proficient in reading part and assembly drawings

Ability to maintain a steady pace while bending and kneeling

Ability to lift to 50 lbs. as required

Ability to occasionally travel, less than 10% of the time
