Job Summary

The Senior Accountant will be an integral part of the firm. The incumbent is responsible for undertaking all production accounting activities, including preparation, review, and analysis of financial statements and taxation requirements and delivering associated quality, professional accounting outcomes. The ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge of taxation, bookkeeping, and admin procedures and will be an asset to the Accounting team. Candidates will be expected to maintain bookkeeping duties for a small number of clients as well play a large role in the tax preparation of individuals, corporations, partnerships, and on occasion trust returns.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Preparation of compilation engagement files to be submitted to the Partners for review;
• Preparation of corporate and personal income tax returns;
• Establish and maintain strong client relationships;
• Tax consulting to firm clients including tax planning and analysis;
• HST return preparation and filing along with GST / HST audit support;
• Maintain client files to ensure accurate and timely completion of returns and schedules;
• Tax research and memo creation to discuss the tax treatment of complex transactions;
• Create efficiency within the firm to streamline processes and improve the quality of engagement files;
• Support Partners in business development initiatives;
• The position requires you to report to the Senior Client Manager or the Senior Production Manager;
• Your major role is to process and complete annual financial statements and prepare income tax returns;
• You will work with your Senior Manager, helping train you in technical knowledge and reviewing your work.
