Experience :
Minimum of one year of acute care experience in a hospital setting.
License :
High school diploma or GED required.
Certifications :
Current BLS certification (through AHA or RQI).
CPI certification within 30 days of hire preferred.
Must-Have :
Ability to organize, plan, and complete assignments under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Demonstrates discretion with confidential information.
Courteous interaction with patients, families, and staff.
Computer literacy is required; experience with Microsoft Office and Meditech preferred.
Description :
The Patient Care Technician performs patient care activities and clerical functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Supports clinical operations in the Emergency Department.
Provides technical assistance and participates in unit and organizational improvement activities.
Responsible for review and completion of records in the Emergency Department.
Performs phlebotomy, EKGs, patient transport, hygiene care, vital signs, weights, pulse oximetry, and assists with procedures.
Accurately inputs radiology, laboratory, and EKG orders in the appropriate systems.
Maintains filing systems, manages mail, and ensures organized record-keeping.
Monitors and orders supplies, restocks rooms, and maintains cleanliness in utility areas.
Manages communication within the department, including answering phones and assisting visitors.
Keeps patients and families informed about care processes and supports their needs throughout their visit.
Monitors and reports changes in patient conditions promptly to nursing staff.
Ensures safe patient handling and mobility, including use of transfer devices and fall prevention measures.
Assists with wound care and sterile dressing setups under supervision.
Follows infection prevention and isolation protocols rigorously.
Demonstrates proficiency in prioritizing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to ensure efficient patient flow and continuity of care.
Accurately documents patient care and observations in the medical record according to policy.
Maintains equipment by cleaning and testing, reporting malfunctions promptly.
