Event Stipend Position

POSITION SUMMARY :

To provide equitable co-curricular instruction and enrichment to students outside of regular school hours to either further develop a field of study and / or interest or introduce an area of study to enhance the teaching of the whole child.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid Massachusetts Teaching license in the area of study is preferred.

Training and Experience Experience in the field with appropriately aged students

Professional experience and / or experience in a school setting

Strong collaborative, teaching, coaching and leadership skills to support student programming and work in a team setting. Strong problem-solving skills to support student success. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills to balance the demands of a multi-tasking position. A proactive and solution-focused approach to meeting student needs. Knowledge of specialized content area as well as any related laws and procedures.

Ability to consistently collaborate with colleagues through shared planning and / or informal conversation to analyze student performance and development. To support the creation of appropriate and effective academic, behavioral, and social / emotional learning experiences for students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as an illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. Works in conjunction with Stage Director to design, build and execute costumes.

Participates in auditions as needed.

Works with Stage Director to appropriately present design to students.

Trains a student costume designer as appropriate.

Schedules costume fittings for the start of the rehearsal process with Stage Director.

Attends at least one run through of the show (acts) before tech week to integrate the costumes and changes into the show. Communicates with Stage Director to effectively costume for period and fit.

Prepares, fits, adjusts and builds / rents costumes for the entire cast.

Creates an appropriate storage and during show, costume system to ensure the safety of costumes.

Works with Production Manager on a budget for costumes including building, pulling and renting.

Distributes a Student Supply list to students on or before week three of the rehearsal schedule.

Coordinates the t-shirt ordering and distribution with Production Manager.

Assists with behavior management.

Works in conjunction with the Artistic Stage Director and Choreographer to ensure the costumes will enhance and not inhibit performers.

Cleans and organizes the school's costume storage room.

Works with other schools in the district to share costumes when appropriate. Present at all performances and tech week rehearsals to provide a transition between rehearsals and performance.

Works in conjunction with the Artistic staff on the strike and resetting of the theater and theater spaces following a production.

Responsible to return all rented and borrowed costumes in a timely manner.

All costumes must be inventoried and cleaned before storage.

Communicates effectively with the custodial staff at the building as needed.

Communicates effectively to provide a positive, safe and educational experience.

Physical Working Conditions The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move about and may be required to traverse occasionally throughout the school building. The employee must also often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is expected to lift at least 20 lbs (i.e. books, school supplies, etc.). The employee must frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and use hand strength to grasp tools. Occasionally s / he operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e., a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer). The employee must be able to input information into a computer and as well as read material from a computer monitor as well as handwritten or printed matter with or without visual aids. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and other staff members in person and on the telephone. In the classroom, the employee must be able to see and hear on a continuous basis in order to ensure the safety of students as well as speak frequently to provide instruction. On rare occasions, it may be necessary to move quickly across even or uneven surfaces. The employee will be working in a normal school environment with an acceptable level of noise. The employee interacts with students, parents, and other staff members. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of students.

None.

FLSA Classification :

This position is classified as Exempt (Professional).

Terms of Employment :

Covered under the Framingham Teachers Association (Unit A) Contract.

Meets once each week for 1-3 hours - rare weekends commitment - minimum 9 weeks.

Payment due at the end of the assignment.
