WPEC - CBS12 News is looking for a full-time Chief Meteorologist. As Chief Meteorologist, you will be responsible for the content of the weather cast on-air and on our digital platforms. You will issue warnings and alerts, produce graphics and maps and report live during weather events. You must be able to utilize social media during severe weather, as well as write weather stories. You must have excellent time management skills. The ideal candidate will have proven skills in social media. Job Responsibilities : Produce and present weather reports for all platforms Issue warnings and alerts for severe weather Lead the weather team during severe weather events, ensuring coordination and clear communication across all platforms Execute full coverage plans for major weather events, from initial forecasts through post-event analysis Manage meteorologist schedules to ensure consistent coverage across all dayparts Provide constructive feedback and coaching to weather team members to support growth and consistency in presentation and forecasting Produce graphics and maps that clearly communicate complex weather information Forecast, produce, and present clear and concise weathercasts that connect with viewers Develop content and graphics for on-air, web, and social media platforms Make public appearances on behalf of the station Collaborate with producers to determine relevant weather content in breaking and everyday situations Report from community events and breaking weather scenes Required Skills and Experience : Previous on-air experience presenting weather and news information required Proven leadership experience or strong leadership potential Extensive digital savvy and excellent writing skills Thorough knowledge of creating distinctive and informative graphics presentations High energy and engaging personality with strong communication skills Ability to lead calmly and decisively during high-pressure, severe weather situations Willingness to come in off duty when severe weather threatens our area Team player who values collaboration and understands the importance of teamwork Proven track record of covering severe weather on-air and on digital platforms Demonstrated success in growing social media engagement and audience trust Sinclair is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and a drug free workplace.
